Solution page
The Solution page is a dashboard of the open object store: what the store is, how many objects it holds, and a grid of cards on its health and make-up. Use it to size up an unknown solution, to see how its objects split over the design areas and version tags, to find the largest objects, and to see what failed to parse.
Opening it
- Select Solution in the rail of the Workspace window.
- Open a store in which some objects fail to parse: the workspace window then opens on this page.
The page is on the rail while Show Solution page is on, on the Settings page. It is on by default.

| # | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Edit dashboard | Hides and restores cards. See Hide and restore cards. |
| 2 | Reload workspace | Closes the object store and opens it again, for example after the files changed on disk. Open tabs and view state are lost, so with Confirm closing object store on, Prism asks first. |
| 3 | Store and counts | What the store is and how many objects, types, design areas, tag codes and parse errors it holds. See Counts. |
| 4 | Cards | Ten cards on the health and make-up of the store, three to a row; scroll the page for the rest. See Cards. |
For a mirror, the title row also shows a Mirror chip that reads Idle or Synchronizing. Hover over it for the synchronization status.
Counts

| # | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reveal in Explorer | The icon of the kind of store. Select it to show the store in Windows Explorer: a file selected in its folder, or a folder opened. Not available for a store that is not a local file or folder. |
| 2 | Store | Which object store the page describes: its kind (File, Folder or Mirror), name and full path. Hover over a cut-off name or path to read it in full. |
| 3 | Objects | The objects in the store, system and virtual tables included. The drill-down lists every object, with object type chips. |
| 4 | Types | The object types that occur. The drill-down lists every object, with object type chips. |
| 5 | Design areas | The design areas the objects fall in; system tables are left out. The drill-down lists the objects, with a chip per design area. |
| 6 | Tag codes | The version tag codes that occur, such as NAVW1 or NAVDK. While Full tags is on, on the Version tags card, it reads Version tags and counts whole tags. The drill-down shows a row per object and tag, with a chip per tag code: an object with three tags shows three times, and objects without a tag show under (untagged). |
| 7 | Parse errors | The objects that failed to parse; red, with an error mark, when there are any. The drill-down lists the failed objects with their diagnostic, with a chip per cause (Parse signature). |
Select a count to list what it counts in a drill-down popup. A count of 0 is not available.
Cards
The cards stand three to a row, in the order below, all as tall as the tallest. Each card has a title and a one-line subtitle saying what it measures. A card with more rows than fit scrolls within itself. A row with no objects is not available.

| # | Card | Shows | Select a row to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Object types | The count of each object type, system and virtual tables included, in the order Table, Page, Form, Report, Codeunit, Query, Xmlport, Dataport, Menusuite, with a bar relative to the largest. | List the objects of that type. |
| 2 | Design areas / ID ranges | The objects per design area, largest first, with their share of the card's objects and a bar. Under each area's name are its ID ranges. The base application's read 1–9 999 and 16 blocks from 104 000 up: hover over them for the blocks above 99 999 that Microsoft's own objects use. The Partner range leaves those blocks out, and its tooltip lists them. Objects in no design area, such as ids from 99 000 000 outside those blocks, show as Unknown object range. System tables are left out. | List the area's objects. |
| 3 | Health | Parse errors and Unnamed objects, each with a count that is green at zero. The heart icon is green when both are zero, amber for unnamed objects and red for parse errors. This card cannot be hidden. | List the failed objects, grouped by cause, or the unnamed objects. |

| # | Card | Shows | Select a row to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Version tags |
The tag codes in the objects' version lists, each with its count of objects and a bar relative to
the largest. A NAV tag's code is its product and country, such as

List the objects that carry the tag code, with their version lists. |
| 2 | Version tags by design area | A section per design area, largest first, with its object count and ID ranges. Under it, a row per tag code the area's objects carry: the code, the number of distinct tags with that code, the objects that carry it, and their share of the area's objects, with a bar. Use it to see whose tags the objects of an area carry, such as a partner's code on base application objects. Every row shows. | List the area's objects that carry the tag code, with their version lists. |
| 3 | Source | Where the objects come from. For a file: Size, Modified, Encoding and Folder. For a folder: Files, Size, Modified and Folder. | No drill-down. |

| # | Card | Shows | Select a row to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Recently modified |
The ten objects with the latest When some headers hold a date or time Prism cannot read, a warning above the rows says how many: “N objects with a date or time your regional format does not read”. Prism reads them in the Short date and Long time format of your Windows regional settings, and the warning's tooltip names both. Restart Prism after you change the format. Select the warning to list those objects, with a chip for the part that does not read. |
Open the object. |
| 2 | Recent changes | The last ten Git commits that touched the store's path: subject, short SHA, author and time. Hover over a commit and select the copy button to copy its SHA. Without a Git repository, the card says why, shows Last modified on disk and a chart of the objects' header dates by month. | No drill-down. |
| 3 | Largest objects | The ten largest objects of the chosen design areas and object type. See Find the largest custom objects. | Open the object. |

| # | Card | Shows | Select a row to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Translation coverage |
The number of translatable caption sites (CaptionML, OptionCaptionML,
ToolTipML and the like) and languages, and per language how many sites have a
translation. The base chip names the base language: the one present on the most
sites.
|
List the objects missing that language, each with Missing N of M captions. A language every site has has no drill-down. |
Drill-down popups
Selecting a count or a card row opens a popup listing the objects behind it. The popup closes when you open an object or select outside it. Drag its bottom-right corner to resize it.

| # | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Search | Keeps the rows whose type, id, name, detail or category contain the text, in any case. This is a plain text search, not the object index search syntax. |
| 2 | Object type | A chip per object type, with its count. Select chips to show only those types. A chip that would leave no rows is disabled. |
| 3 | Clear filters | Clears every selected chip. The search stays. |
| 4 | Category | A second row of chips for the category of the list, such as the cause of a parse error (Parse signature), a Design area or a Tag code. Shown when it differs from the object type. The chips of one row add up; the two rows and the search narrow each other. |
| 5 | Status | N items, or M of N match and the search text. |
| 6 | Copy all | Copies the visible rows to the clipboard as tab-separated text with the columns Type, Id, Name and Detail. |
| 7 | Row | Type, id, name, a category badge and a detail, such as the syntax error with its line and column. Select the row to open the object on the Objects page. Hover over it and select the copy button for Copy diagnostic info to clipboard. |
Find the largest custom objects
Use this to find the objects a partner or customer added that carry the most code, for example to estimate an
upgrade. The Largest objects card ranks the objects by the size of their source in characters,
shown in KB of 1 024 characters. Report layouts (RDLDATA and WORDLAYOUT) are left out of
the size; report sections count. System tables are left out.

| # | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Design areas | Reads All design areas, the one area chosen, N design areas or No design area. Select it to choose the areas. Shown when the objects fall in more than one design area. |
| 2 | Design area list | A check box per design area, with its number of objects; all are checked at first. The list stays open while you check and clear boxes, until you select outside it. |
| 3 | Object type | Reads All types or the type chosen. Select it to rank one object type. Shown when the objects are of more than one type. |
| 4 | Object | Type, id, name, size in KB and a bar relative to the largest shown. Select it to open the object. |
- On the Solution page, find the Largest objects card. It shows the ten largest objects of every design area.
- Select the button in the card's title row that reads All design areas, and clear Base application and Country/region. Select outside the list to close it.
- To rank one object type, select the button that reads All types and choose a type.
- Select a row to open the object.
The card then shows the ten largest objects of that type in the design areas still checked. The type list offers every type in the store, so a type the checked areas do not have shows “None of the chosen design areas has an object of this type.” With every design area cleared, the card says “No design area chosen.” Choose All types and check every area to return.
List the objects that failed to parse
Use this when the Solution icon on the rail carries an error mark.
- Select the Parse errors count, or the Parse errors row of the Health card.
- Select a chip under the category to see the objects that fail for one cause.
- Select a row to open the object, or select Copy all to send the list on.
The object view shows the parse error in place of the object. See Troubleshooting for what to do next. The Object Errors window lists the same objects.
Find objects missing a translation
- On the Translation coverage card, select the row of the language.
- In the popup, read Missing N of M captions per object; select a row to open the object.
Hide and restore cards

| # | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|

| 2 | Hidden cards | A chip per hidden card. Select a chip to restore that card. |
| 3 | Restore all | Restores every hidden card and ends edit mode. |
| 4 | Hide this card | The cross on a card. Health has none. |
- Select Edit dashboard in the title row. Each card shows a cross, except Health, which always shows.
- Select a card's cross (Hide this card) to hide it.
- To restore a card, select its chip on the Hidden cards: strip, or select Restore all, which also ends edit mode.
- Select the button again (Done editing dashboard) to finish.
Prism remembers the hidden cards, and they stay hidden for every store you open.
